Up to €47,500 in funding for software projects with social added value – apply to Prototype Fund by March 31!
The Prototype Fund supports individual programmers and small teams in realizing their innovative project ideas from concept to prototype.
We support public interest tech with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research: With start-up funding of up to €47,500 per project, as well as coaching, networking and consulting, we support innovative approaches with added value for society. These can be tools for greater data security, software infrastructure for cross-system collaboration, applications for data analysis or civic tech projects that positively change the relationship between the state and citizens. The funding period starts on September 1, 2022, and we have already funded 248 projects.
We enable low-threshold funding so that individual developers and small interdisciplinary teams can test and implement their ideas for innovative open source software without bureaucratic hurdles. For this reason, there are only a few requirements for funding:
- Recipients must be of legal age and have a residence in Germany.
- At the beginning of the project, a German tax number as a self-employed person/freelancer or a (pro-rata for the project duration) release from the employer is required.
- Teams must form a GbR for the grant period.
We are happy to answer questions via email and on Twitter and Mastodon at @prototypefund.
We are looking forward to many good ideas!
