Assistance with the Antragswust in the case of care: That promises the young establishment team with their new portal pflegewächter.de and receives a start-up financing of 130,500 euro for one year.
Around 3.4 million people in Germany are in need of care, according to a recent study by the Federal Statistical Office. It is not uncommon for a person to need care as a result of an accident or illness, virtually overnight. In addition to worrying about the person in need of care, this usually means stress for relatives. Where can I make which applications? What subsidies might be available from the nursing care insurance fund – and: which of the five nursing care degrees is the relevant one for my relative? Can we afford home care or do we need to find a place in a care facility quickly? With all these questions the new portal Pflegewächter.de wants to help step by step up to including application, because one of the three establishment members, the lawyer Florian Specht, experienced this case before some years even in the family. Together with lawyer Nele Frie and Noel Scheit, who is responsible for programming, he developed the portal, which is to be launched online by the end of 2020.
Via the website www.pflegewächter.de, relatives and people in need of care can then quickly determine their potential care degree in a first step by downloading a corresponding questionnaire and find out what financial assistance they are entitled to from the care insurance funds. Once the care level has been determined, the corresponding care benefits can be applied for directly via the website. And, on it the establishment team is particularly proud: The portal offers also an objection consultation over a network of lawyers, because in the past more than 50 per cent of the placed objections were successful after a renewed evaluation.
“When my family was in the situation years ago of having to decide quickly what the optimal care for my grandmother and the associated financing would look like, I couldn’t believe how big the mountains of paperwork were that we had to fill out – and in such an emotionally exceptional situation. Pflegewächter.de will finally change that,” says Florian Specht, describing the benefits of the service, which is not yet available on the market in a comparable form.
Now the team and its project partner, the Institute for Litigation and Attorney Law (IPA) at Leibniz Universität Hannover, headed by Prof. Dr. Christian Wolf, have been awarded EXIST funding. The startup will receive the generous funding of 130,500 euros for one year from July 2020 through the EXIST-Gründerstipendium, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the European Social Fund (ESF).
The three founders are currently working hard to put the website online. In addition, pflegewächter.de was one of three teams to be selected as a finalist for the SENovation Awards 2020 in the Concept category. On September 15, a jury of experts will decide on the winners of the competition. Good luck and success!

Our support will ensure the financing of the portal and the associated new service for end consumers,” Doris Petersen, Managing Director of hannoverimpuls GmbH, is pleased about the current funding commitment.
